Burns

Sallow eyes ponder who will stop their tears.
Love has forsaken, left without a care.
The ring burns and burns, tender flesh it sears.

It happened, making truth of all my fears;
Turned away from me, left me standing there.
Sallow eyes ponder who will stop their tears.

The voices in his head are all he hears.
Always thought it would be our lives to share.
The ring burns and burns, tender flesh it sears.

The emptiness gazes back from the mirrors.
A ghost vanishes, hides deep in its lair.
Sallow eyes ponder who will stop their tears.

All hope is forgotten, my future veers.
Screaming within, while at my hand I stare.
The ring burns and burns, tender flesh it sears.

Watching, noose on my finger disappears;
Now leaving my striving soul cold and bare.
Sallow eyes ponder who will stop their tears.
And still . . .
The ring burns and burns, tender flesh it sears.
